In addition to writing fiction, I volunteer at my local community radio station, KBOO.FM. I host a program called Between the Covers which airs every third Thursday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Pacific Time. It’s a program dedicated to books, writers, and all things writing related. Interview with Willy Vlautin
Check out this interview with local author Willy Vlautin. Willy is an author of eight novels and is the winner of the Joyce Carol Oates award and a Pen / Faulkner award nominee. Three of his books have been adapted into feature films. He is also the founder of the bands, Richmond Fontaine and the Delines. His current novel, The Left and the Lucky, is set in Portland.
Sam Lumley is the author of the Oliver Popp’s Travel Guides to Murder series, and like its protagonist, is both gay and autistic. He also owns a vintage Chevrolet Corvair and once lived in a basement apartment in Washington, D.C.—experiences that also make appearances in the series. New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Evison. Jonathan is the author of multiple novels including All About Lulu, The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, and The Heart of Winter. His novel Lawn Boy was the target of censorship in 2022. According to the American Library Association, it was seventh-most banned and challenged book in the country due to its inclusion of LGBT+ content and being sexually explicit.
